Facts & Commonly Asked Questions
What to expect
Upon arrival on the install date we will prep the ground using a bed edger which takes the top layer of grass away creating a 9" wide trench where your custom curbing will lay. We use light power equipment and your property will not receive damage. Concrete will be mixed onsite with our specialized trailer. Concrete is brought to the extruding machine, finished and sealed. We are fully self-sufficient and most every job can be complete in 1 day. The site will be cleaned up and a final measurement will be taken. At that time a bill will be presented to the customer that is due at that time.

We can do that! Just ask!
Sealed vs Not Sealed
Most projects will be sealed with a Solvent based Acrylic sealer. Every time an Antique Release color is used the curb must be sealed. Upon the request of the homeowner in times where only an Integral Color is requested we will not seal the curb unless specified by the homeowner. If a curb needs to be sealed we will add this to the cost quote at a $/ft value.
What to do with Sprinklers
For new construction projects, it's preferable to install curbing before sprinklers. This arrangement is favored by most sprinkler companies and us because it streamlines the process. Installing sprinklers before curbing can lead to less smooth lines as the curb placement is then determined by the sprinkler layout, requiring adjustments. Conversely, when curbing is in place first, sprinkler installation becomes more straightforward. In existing lawns, we typically work around existing sprinkler heads to maintain clean lines. Rest assured, your sprinkler heads will still function effectively, shooting over the curb and distributing water as usual. After your custom curbing project is complete it's imperative to keep the sprinklers OFF for 48hrs to insure proper curing.
Water and Drainage
Each water-retaining area should be equipped with a "drain" for effective water drainage. These drains are strategically placed around your property in locations where gravity naturally guides water flow, ensuring proper exit points. The incisions we make are specifically intended to manage water from direct rainfall and snowmelt. To prevent water from pooling against your house and potentially seeping into the basement, it's crucial that downspouts are extended over the curb, directing roof water away from the curbed areas.
We emphasize the importance of extending downspouts to prevent water damage. We do not assume responsibility for any damage resulting from negligence by homeowners or landscapers. This is why when designing long waves and curves, drainage manipulation is key. Water tends to settle at the lowest points, making it straightforward to place drains at the bottom of curves to facilitate efficient drainage.

What to do before we show up
1. Please try and have ample access to the property. We are pulling a 20' trailer packed full of equipment and at times employees will drive to the jobsite. 2. Please flag or mark existing sprinkler heads.
Cracking Issues
Curbing, being a concrete product, is susceptible to cracking despite claims by some companies. We take pride in minimizing cracks by adhering to proper mixing ratios and finishing techniques. It's important to differentiate between spider cracks, which are common in concrete, and more serious separation issues. Cracking in concrete is inevitable due to various factors such as materials, layout, and temperature.
Extreme angles, inclines, and declines pose challenges during installation because the curbing machine's weight makes achieving adequate compression difficult. Cracks wider than 1/4 inch on level ground indicate potential operator error or insufficient compaction, and we cover these under warranty. However, cracks in other situations are typically not covered.
We strategically place expansion joints approximately every 1-2 feet depending on the situation to alleviate stress as the concrete cures. These joints serve the same purpose as cuts in sidewalks or driveways, preemptively creating controlled points for expansion. If a small crack forms near these joints, it indicates the joints are functioning properly by relieving stress, not that the curbing itself has cracked.
Cost, linear feet & Pricing.
We have a $600 minimum. We have a 25ft minimum on tree rings. They need to be large enough to handle tree growth. Multiple variables contribute to the pricing of your curbing. This includes linear footage, curb style choice, color selection, stamping, carving, layout preferences, and property considerations. Every aspect is carefully evaluated to establish the final cost. While standard slant-style curbing starts at $8 per linear foot, each property is distinct and will need assessment. Kindly complete our quote form for a precise estimation tailored to your requirements and preferences. Please note there is a 3% service charge associated with credit and debit transactions.
What happens if the curb gets damaged?
We can come and fix damages however this is circumstantial. If damage occurs, send us a picture and we will see what can be done and when we can accommodate.
Integral Colors vs Antique Release Colors
Integral Colors are the base color. They are mixed into the concrete mixture and are considered the secondary color if and when an Antique Release color is used. Antique Release color(s) are applied once your custom curbing is on the ground. When a stamp or roller texture is used the Integral color will be present in 10-15% of the curb whereas the Antique Release color will be present at 85-90%. ANY time an Antique Release color is used a Solvent based Acrylic sealer MUST be sprayed on the curb. This makes your custom curbing pop and look nice.
Warranty
Our curbing warranty covers workmanship for one year. Given the rapid curing of this concrete type, any potential issues typically manifest within the initial 24 hours. While spider cracks are a possibility in concrete, we rarely encounter them. However, it's important to acknowledge their potential occurrence.
If a crack wider than 1/4 inch forms, it indicates operator error and will be rectified. Cracks resulting from vehicular traffic, heavy machinery, or natural causes like tree roots or ground movement are not covered. It's essential to exercise common sense; for instance, curbing may not withstand the weight of a vehicle driving over it. Spider cracks are an inherent aspect of concrete and may appear under specific circumstances.
